This natural healing technique focuses on the skin as a route of elimination. The skin is the
largest organ of elimination and therefore is an invaluable route for toxicity to leave the body.
Epsom salts (Magnesium Sulphate) have the effect of drawing toxicity and acidity (especially uric acid) towards itself. As a result, when you take a bath with a high solution of Epsom salts it draws out toxicity from within the body through your skin into the bath.
The hot water will heat your body, which "opens up" the cell membranes to release toxicity. The heat thins your lymph, helping with the extra workload, and encourages your blood to come to the surface.
A hot bath with Epsom salts can produce a great deal of movement within your body and help to
draw out toxins from your blood, tissues, cells, and organs.
This natural healing technique is a must when cleansing and detoxifying! It's especially useful for soothing achy muscles and joints, so it's a great technique to help with recovery after vigorous exercise and gym sessions.
Epsom salts are also extremely beneficial for anyone suffering from arthritis.
You’ll need:
A normal bath
1kg of Epsom salts
Instructions:
Tip your 1kg of Epsom salts into your bath.
Run the water and agitate the salts to maximize the dissolving process.
Make sure the bath water is hot, it needs to be as hot as you can cope with, but not so hot that it causes you to feel dizzy or faint.
Lie in the bath for twenty minutes (everyone’s tolerance levels are different, but twenty minutes is ideal)
Do not use any soap or other form of bath gel as this will interfere with the drawing-out process.
Once you've reached your limit in terms of time, you can do any of the following: add cold water to the bath to bring your temperature down. You can take a cold shower, or lastly, simply pat yourself dry and go to bed, continuing to sweat for longer to encourage lymph movement and the release of more toxins.
The effects of an Epsom salt bath can leave you feeling a little weak and tired, so do rest if this is the case. After a good night's sleep, most people feel clear and refreshed in the morning (once they have completed the release of more toxins with elimination via the toilet and skin brushing).
Please note: Do not take an Epsom salt bath if you have a risk of haemorrhaging or high blood pressure during pregnancy or menstruation, as your body is busy carrying out processes relating to these conditions.
